when asked to visit a chapter in “They Say I Say” relevant to a problem or potential problem I’m facing while constructing the final draft of my English essay, I chose to look into the chapter entitled “Yes/No/Okay, But” in which the author explains three ways to respond while writing. I chose to use this topic because I felt as though my essay could benefit from me using some fresh responding/reasoning strategies in my paper. I feel as though I tend to rely on the same word choices and phrases while responding to references from the sources I’m using and I wanted to steer away from doing then when I bring Yo-Yo- Ma, Lehrer, and my other source in this essay. The biggest thing I was able to take away from the chapter was that I could, in fact, recycle some of the word choices and phrases I’m used to using already, but I can instead use them in a brand new way and “They Say I Say” was able to provide me with some examples of this strategy.
